It is Sunday, time for the SDSBS, that little extra that I post each week at this time for no descernable reason. This week, I am going to post something different, I was getting a little bored with all the classic re-makes, so here is a work by a traveler and author of the turn of the century. This author traveled the far east writing about the culture and folklore. In Japan, the belief's and cultural bent towards honored ancestors is so strong, it is not suprising that their folklore is heavily loaded with ghosts and vengeful spirt stories. This book is a collection of those stories, some are frightening, some are horrorific, but all are worth a read. As a side note, this is an important cultural keepsake to the Japanese even though it was written by a foreigner, some of these stories did not survive the industrial reconstruction except through the vehicle of this book. It is the source of an Anime series that is currently running in the USA, Japan, and the EU.
