September Week #2

A new week begins, and we have some new books to consider. In our first selection, we are featuring a series that we have featured before in the past, one of the best military scifi series currently running, the Lost Fleet Series. With the new book, the story of the fleet that serves as the sword and shield of the empire in a hostile galaxy has been expanded yet again. The storyline is great, the characterizations involving, and Jack Campbell delivers the goods yet again.

Our second selection is a look into our future, when even the body can be programmed, and if you wish to be a martial artist expert, well, there is an app for that! All that glitters is not gold, but who could tell the difference in a world where the digital and the analog merge into a gestalt of human needs and desires. Money made in material goods doesn't have the potential for profit as money made in the non-material side of future living. This trilogy takes you into a all-too-possible future.

Our next selection is a group of some gripping thrillers that will take you into the brinkmanship that is played on the international gameboard with military might and the shadow world of covert ops. Past, present and future are all investigated as possible scenarios for the events, trends, and current affairs of our world to give a possible storyline of what did, is, or will actually happen behind the scenes.

Our third selection is a collection of thriller/suspense stories about a cop that finds himself thrust into situations that are completely unexpected and his need to stand up for his friends gets him in too deep. Treasure hunts, serial killers, terrorist attacks, his situations just keep getting him in deeper and deeper. Here is one detective who will never live to see retirement the way things are going.

Our final choice of books for this week is a series about the formost art thief in the world, his desire to go straight continually thwarted by circumstance, yet redemption is only a heist away. With a storyline that is eight parts Tomas Crown Affair, mixed with two parts of James Bond 007, these action filled and twisting plots will take you on a roller coaster ride. Good characterizations, and wonderfully complex storylines full of cross and double cross, combined with hunters and hunted being indistinguishable from each other, makes for some excellent reading.
