Off The Wall #7

Here it is, our off the wall thursday, when we have a bit o' fun with non-bookish pursuits. As is usual, we have three sets of four themed wallpapers, and this week, we have some non-mainstream music that I happen to think is wonderful and cannot recommend enough!

All right, first the walls, here is the first set I call 'Nature':

And now, the music! I have always enjoyed Irish music, the celtic melodies are hauntingly beautiful, often full of woe and mayhem almost like an American country song, they can also be about desire and unfullfilled need. The best of the modern bands capture some of the spirit of the folk tunes, if not the tunes themselves, and update the sound with modern instruments, changing the music, but making it better. The best of these modern bands in my opinion is Celtic Spirit. Their Lyra albums, particularly this one is the finest example of modern Irish\Celtic rock\folk music out there. Enjoy with me this fine album.

    Love this music, if even one person posts that they liked it too, I will put the first Lyra album in a future Off The Wall posting.

    Another day of great walls, Beth! :-)

    lil' babbie groans. Whiskey In the Jar ... Jennifer and I go to sessions Thursday evenings. Celtic sessions. Jennifer plays Celtic music on instruments, mostly recorders, harp. She plays it most times on awakening, when we're setting quietly, she plays it in the car, she plays it at bedtime while reading, she plays it on auto for an hour until she falls asleep about 3 minutes after the auto starts its run.

    She can listen to humor, classical, different music as well, and does ... but her personal fav is Renaissance ... followed by Cletic.

    babbie holds her head and groans again ... Whiskey in the Jar ...
