Ha! Tuesday, that day of the week I have dedicated to Doctor Who collectables, we are still in 1964, and the effort to market that blockbuster sensation, the Daleks, let to some interesting marketing ploys. In today's offering we have the 'Cadet' set of collectors cards put out by a candy company in conjunction with their 'sweet cigarettes' candy. The pack has DIFF information for sizing to the original size and with a good graphics printing program or a greeting card program one can use card stock in the ol' inkjet and get a stunning 'replica' set of the entire 50 cards including box! (Hot glue works wonders) Just appreciating the cards is enough though, for they tell two separate but linked stories with the last one providing a tie-in to the Dalek Book that was posted last week.

I printed a dozen sets of these cards and passed them out at a Doctor Who fan con in St. Louis a while back and they were a big hit! They feel and look good in the original format, and you could almost smell the scented sugar, a true connection with the past in tactile form!
